Teachers vote for reducing their union fees in times of economic hardship

Here's a quote from the JCEA May newletter:

"Delegates voted on and approved several resolutions including one that gives the CEA [Colorado Education Association] board the ability to lower dues in times of economic crisis..."

I find this so hypocritical. These are the same people who will be out in droves over the coming weeks to support a tax hike on the rest of us (Proposition 103).

  1. These are the people who have been forced to take furlough days and cuts and/or freezes in salary. Have you had to take a furlough day? How about your salary, has it increased over the past 3 years? These are also the people who, despite this, continue to teach our children (oh and don't forget, provide you childcare during the day). Perhaps they could use a reduction in their dues.


    Also, "these...people," pay taxes just like "the rest of us" so they are not exempt from an increase if Prop 103 passes.
