Subsidized Miracles

Did you know the digital sign at the Arvada Center cost you 1.3 million dollars and sits in violation of multiple city sign codes?

Well we at the Arvada Report have a special gift for you this holiday season! The Miracle on 34th Street the musical will be subsidized by your tax dollars at the Arvada Center November 27th-December 13th 2012. Everyone should go and see this magical production, because you paid for it already with your tax dollars.

In other news did you know that the Arvada Center which is one of the states largest employer of actors is exclusively a union house? That means only union actors and union productions. That also means more of your tax money. Did you know that each year the City of Arvada further subsidizes the Arvada center to the tune of millions because it can't turn a profit? Did you know you can attend the Denver Center of Performing Arts and receive better performances cheaper?

                                                                 Merry early Christmas!

Zenzinger Plays Partisan

Rachel Zenzinger is a leftist loony who would love nothing more than to take all of our cars away and make us ride bicycles everywhere like her hippy husband (based on conversations members of our staff have had with her). She is an important member of the  Jeffco Democratic party. But as a city councilor representing the Citizens of Arvada she is supposed to remain nonpartisan. In regards to tonights Jeffco board of education tonight. Zenzinger had this to say about the censureship of republican board member Laura Boggs:

This makes us wonder, who is Rachel working for the constituents of her district or Cindy Stevenson and the Jeffco Dems?

Arvada police want to talk to Ridgeway suspect about unsolved cases

ARVADA - Arvada police want to talk with the suspect in Jessica Ridgeway's murder to see if he's connected to two attempted abductions in their city.
On Wednesday, Westminster police announced the arrest of 17-year-old Austin Sigg. Police say he confessed to killing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway earlier this month.
He's also linked to the attempted abduction of a 22-year-old woman who was running at Ketner Lake back in May.
Because those crimes happened around the same time and place as the two attempted abductions in Arvada police there want to question Sigg.
"I wouldn't call him a suspect," Arvada Police Sgt. Mark Nazaryk said. "I'm not sure I'd even go as far as to call him a person of interest. We'd just like to talk to him about some similarities."
Arvada police released a sketch of the suspect in connection with the attempted abductions that happened in September.
While Sigg resembles the sketch slightly, police say the description of the suspect's car does not match the car driven by Sigg.

2012 Election Guide

In case you haven't decided who to vote for yet let's take a look at the lineup for 2012 and we at the Arvada Report would like to make a few recommendations

Lang Sias is running for Senate district 19. He is a moderate conservative. Given the composition of the district we feel that Lang will make an excellent Senator, especially when you take a look at the competition:

Senator Evie Hudak smiling at a friend
Lang Sias
Robert Ramirez is running for House of Representatives in district 29. Ramirez is the incumbent in this race. We fully expect Ramirez to pull ahead of his opponent who is a an attorney:
Robert Ramirez
Tracy Tharp (Carp) smiling at new taxes
Joe Coors who we now know is not a beer. This is a business guy who is fed up with Washington and what they have done to business. I know Joe and believe me he didn't want to run for office, but over the years he sat and watched things get worse and worse. Finally he decided to do something.
Ed Perlmutter screaming or crying
Joe Coors

Libby Szabo is also running in Arvada. In her first term Szabo sponsored some fantastic bills for Arvada including an effort to fight the Arvada trash Nazi's. Libby does have an opponent, he tried walking doors but after going down one street he was so winded he almost had a heart attack.

Don't Hurt Our Community

Oppose ballot initiatives 3A and 3B because it hurts our community.

In this community all sectors of government want more money.
K-12 already has a lion’s share of the state budget:

40.4% of the general fund!

This is a new world and everyone is suffering to one extent or another. Not only are our schools having to make cuts, but families, small businesses, farmers, home owners are as well.  Everyone is scaling back. To propose YET ANOTHER TAX ON PEOPLE WHO ARE ALREADY STRUGGLING JUST TO KEEP THEIR HOMES AND BUSINESSES is unfair and unjust.
What taxpayers are hearing is the voice of a teachers union official saying ‘I want MORE’ to a threadbare and weary taxpayer.
We hope that the school bureaucracy will prioritize the educational needs of students.

The Arvada Family

They're spooky and they're cooky all right. We are proud to present The Arvada Family. A new program, warning may be inappropriate for some viewers. Thank a special friend of the Arvada Report for this one. If you have a story please submit it!

2012 Election

The Arvada Report is pleased to announce that Shelly Cook will have an opponent this fall!

More 2012 Election updates coming soon!

Who in Arvada is Mark Devan?

Mark Devan is the new city manager in Arvada. The guy comes to us from the broke state of California where it is standard practice to spend more than you have. So what is the verdict on Mr. Devan is he going to be good or bad for Arvada? The jury is still out on this one I'm afraid. But there is some good news as best we can tell that lead us to believe this guy may be better than Craig Kocian, but that isn't saying a whole lot.

First, Mr. Devan made significant cuts to the City budget shortly after being appointed. Good job Mr. Devan, two thumbs up for that.
City Manager Mark DevenSecondly, Mr. Devan is a practicing Catholic, which is way better than the last Jewish thug who thought he could rip out St. Annes because he forgot to plan a parking lot. Mark Devan and his family attend Mass every Saturday evening at St. Annes so rest easy Catholics in the City at last the tyrant is gone!

None of this of course means that Mark Devan will keep it up or that he will maintain the sterling record he currently has, but we are hopeful.

Tim Allport Seeks Election to State Legislature

Diversity of experience makes him best candidate for Colorado House District 27

ARVADA, Colo. (March 28, 2012) – Bringing a wealth of experience to the position, Tim Allport has formally declared his candidacy for this November’s election to become Colorado’s next representative to House District 27.

Allport, whose career includes positions in criminal justice, addictions counseling and mental health, believes the state legislature should give top priority to an economic environment that promotes expansion of good-paying jobs and an educational structure that paves the way for our children’s success.

“In the short-term, one of Colorado’s greatest resources is its pool of workers who are eager to contribute, and we need to nurture that resource,” Allport said. “In the long-term, we will ensure Colorado’s stability by preparing our children to become part of that pool of highly skilled and qualified workers.”

Allport has been highly active in the community on multiple levels, with a focus on political and labor issues. He has served as chairman of the Labor Initiative of the Colorado Democratic Party.

“I believe my life experiences have given me a solid and unique background to serve our district and the people of Colorado,” he said. “My work in corrections, addiction counseling, and mental health will help in my role as state representative as I advance public policy and improve the lives of Colorado residents.”

About Tim Allport
Tim AllPort moved to Jefferson County in 1985 to accept a job with the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Correctional Institution in Littleton. Beginning his career as a Correctional Officer, he was later promoted to Drug Treatment Specialist. In 2010, after serving for 25 years, he left the prison system to begin working as a State Certified Addictions Counselor. He currently serves on the Board of the Colorado Association of Addiction Professionals (www.caap.us, formerly SACC) where he chairs the Legislative and Recovery Month committees. Along the way, he has been heavily involved in various community, labor, and political organizations. He has served as president of his large homeowners association and as chairman of the Labor Initiative of the Colorado Democratic Party. Allport lives in Arvada with his wife Jennifer, an Arvada native who has worked in health care for the last 22 years. Their daughter, Alyana, is currently attending preschool in Arvada. Arvada Sustainability Coordinator - A Drunk?

“Arvada has always been mindful of conserving resources as a result of its agricultural history and this Plan will enhance and further those efforts,” said Jessica Prosser, sustainability coordinator for the City of Arvada.

Below are photos of Mrs. Prosser, formerly Ms. Jessica Schluederberg:

Shelly's Stupid Sustainability

(Arvada, CO) – Arvada City Council approved the Sustain Arvada Plan on February 6, 2012.  Sustain Arvada is a way of destroying Arvada’s rich heritage and spending more of our resources on unfeasable economic projects, environmentalism and community communism today and into the future.
In Arvada, as in many places, both present and future generations will suffer from more government control over every aspect of our lives.  Resources will be in greater demand as governments restrict access to them under the pretext of impacts to our air quality, atmosphere, and water resources from past and current practices. This doomsday attitude is like soothsaying.
The goal of sustainability planning is to achieve control of our resources and lives to enhance long-term government control in ways that will allow current and future Arvada council members to regulate a diversity of aspects of citizens lives.  The plan contains broad goals involving six topic areas including: Community Control, Energy Regulation, Land Use, Transportation, Waste and Water.
The Sustain Arvada Plan is the product of almost two years of hard work by the Arvada Sustainability Shelly Cook and City Council. Next steps include creating action items, prioritizing those actions and making recommendations to City Council.
